S4820T and 2 FN410T in FX2

Hello,

we have an S4820T and a FX2 with 2 FN410T as IO-Modules. The 2 FN410T are running in default-mode wich means that each one of them has an own Port-Channel defined on the external ports.

I try now to connect the S4820T to the IOMs and therefore defined also 2 Port-Channels connected to the external ports of the IOMs. Sounds easy, isn't it.

My config for the 8 interfaces:

--------------------------------------------

interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/0

 no ip address
 mtu 12000
!
 port-channel-protocol LACP
  port-channel 45 mode active
 no shutdown
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/1
 no ip address
 mtu 12000
!
 port-channel-protocol LACP
  port-channel 44 mode active

!
interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/2
 no ip address
 mtu 12000
!
 port-channel-protocol LACP
  port-channel 45 mode active
 no shutdown
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/3
 no ip address
 mtu 12000
!
 port-channel-protocol LACP
  port-channel 44 mode active

!
interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/4

interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/7
 no ip address
 mtu 12000
!
 port-channel-protocol LACP
  port-channel 44 mode active

--------------------------------------------

and for the Portchannels:

--------------------------------------------

interface Port-channel 44
 description "Port-Channel zu oberen FN410T"
 no ip address
 mtu 12000
 portmode hybrid
 switchport
 no shutdown
 link-bundle-monitor enable
!
interface Port-channel 45

The IOMs have an  IP-address and when I try to ping it I get more "not reachable" then answers. So I think there is something wrong with the config. I guess you need more info? Feel free to ask.

Dell PowerConnect 7048 L3 switch Vlan issue

Hello,

I've created VLAN 100 and give it the ip 172.16.100.1 255.255.255.0. I assigned port 2/0/15 to VLAN 100. Connected a laptop to the port 2/0/15 and assigned the laptop an ip 72.16.100.100 255.255.255.0 172.16.100.1

I've enabled ip routing.

Now, the problem is there is no ping between the laptop and vlan 100, no ping between vlan 1 and 100.

Hi,

another issue with my S4820T. I have also 2 Netscreen SSG5 in a HA-Cluster for Failover and want to connect them to my S4820T. I get a Link-Light but no traffic at all. Are there any specialities to configure these 2 ports?

Thx

Not all ports are displayed in openmanage network manager 7.0

6 x N2048P stacked.

See "Details" on the switch in network manager.

Click "Network"

The "Ports" window only shows as far as the Gi5/0/16 port. That is 208 ports displayed.

The "Network Details" - "VLAN(s) by Port" has the last gigabit port as Gi6/0/48 - and after that all the 10GB ports (Te1/0/1 - Te6/0/2).

In other words - Gi5/0/17 - Gi6/0/48 and all the Te ports are missing in the "Ports" window.

Hi, I am looking to configure specific test monitors via SNMP for S4048-ON devices.  Can you please help me find the exact MIB file needed for this?  I have seen from other forum posts that all Dell MIBs can be downloaded from,

ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/sysman/

However, I am having a hard time finding, which file I need.

Thanks,

Management VLAN

Hi,

I have several DELL-equipement and especially for here I'm asking about a S4820T and 2 FN410T in a FX2. I want all have a management-IP defined on the Management-Interface. Especially for the 2 FN410T I want to use the Management-Interface because onla than I can see it in the CMC of the FX2.

But for this I Need a Management-VLAN because only than the MAC-address of the Management-VLAN won't flap from the CMC Port to the FN410T external ports and back.

So, how can I define a Manegement-VLAN without loosing the connecion? I'm might missing only a very small Thing but I'm stuck. As far as I know I cannot define a VLAN for the Management-IP of the FN410T. So do I have to move all other traffic in another VLAN? And how can I connect to the management-IP if it is in another VLAN?

Thx in advance

FN410T in VLT mode

Hello,

I have a FX2 with 2 FN410T currenty running in Default standalone mode. So I connected them with Portchannels to the uplink-Switch.

Now I got the recommendation to run in VLT-mode. I try to understand it. As far as I understand I Need to connect the 2 FN410T over Ports 9 for the VLT internal traffic. And than I read something about a heartbeat/backup link. This should be defined over the management-IPs. But the management-IPs are defined on the VLAN-Interface in my case. Can I use this anyway? And d I Need to use another pair of ports for this?

All guides only define Portchannels eith the 4 Ports 10 and 11 of the 2 FNs. Why? Than I use a lot of bandwith comparing with the Default mode?

Thy in advance

N3048 Stack Failover

$

Hi all,

I am having an issue with failover in my Dell N3048 stack.

This is what is currently happening:

  1. 2 In a stack
  2. Management Role sits with unit 2, unplug the power from unit 2, whilst starting an open ping to the gateway and an external ip.  Don't lose packets in either ping
  3. Plug the switch back in, remains unassigned for a while then eventually comes back as a stack member.  At this point pings to the gateway and external IP completely drop.  Internal routing is still working as i can ping SVI's and SSH onto the switch
  4. OSPF seems to have stopped for some reason and doesn't remain active, show ip ospf "OSPF is not initialized. Please check if routing is enabled."
  5. The only way to get it back is to no ip routing / ip routing or reboot the switches.

Any idea why this is, I was hoping for a much more seamless fail-over and fail back. This is definitely not ideal!

Happy to provide any details that are required.

Cheers

DELL N1548 in redundant scenario

I'm going to setup n.4 DELL N1548 switches; they are linked throught uplink ports (10GB) as you can see in the image attached. There are n.3 servers; each server has n.2 NICs mounted using bonding mode 6 (balance-alb  - Adaptive Load Balancing ) linked to 2 different switch.

Could you give me some advices on how to configure a redundant scenario with those switches ? STP, LACP, routing, etc

Management VLAN

Hello,

I'm a bit confused with VLANs. Sorry about that.

I have a FX2 with 3 FC630 running ESXi and 2 FN410T as IOM. Uplink is a S4820T.

On the S4820T I use VLAN 1 as in the FN410T all ports are in this VLAN untagged. For iSCSI i use other VLANs.

My question what I don't understand is now the Management VLAN. Can I use a VLAN wich is not the Default-VLAN for the Management-Interfaces and can I mix Tagged and Untagged ports? This is necessary in my opinion because I want to use the same port of the router. This would than mean that the router has the default-VLAN for user-traffic and another VLAN for management. But the Management-Interface cannot bound to a VLAN. Now I'm stuck.

Thx in advance

S4048-ON VLT issue (connecting to Cisco OSPF Router)

$

Hi,

I am trying to set up VLT domain which will connect downstream to several N-series Switches and upstream to Cisco Router and I am experiencing unusual behavior.

S4048-ON are running 9.10(0.1) software

So VLT itself work but OSPF adjacency with Cisco router will not form when 2 VLT peers are up. As soon as I power off the second peer the ospf adjacency is forming instantly.

Also when 2 peers are alive one of them is very unresponsive (drops packets, and if not the latency is around 500ms), again, when I power off one peer device (doesn't matter which one) everything works just fine.

Is there something wrong in my config or is it a software bug ?

PS Edge switches are connected to Te1/1 - 1/3. Router is connected to Te1/45 and VLTi is configured on Te1/47 and Te1/48... on both VLT peers

I need some help on troubleshooting a couple flapping ports. I have had this happen with a computer and also a phone that had a printer plugged into it.

PowerConnect 6248 - Uploaded firmware not visible in Active Images

Hey all,

When trying to update the firmware on a PowerConnect 6248, I've been trying to use the following method:

System > File Management > File Download > HTTP

After browsing to the .stk file, and clicking "Apply Changes", the upload starts and seems to complete without any issues. After navigating to "Active Images" to attempt to apply the image file, it's just not listed - only the current version is available.

Is this expected behavior? Am I perhaps missing something?

Any assistance would be much appreciated, thanks

Cannot ping interfaces after configuring uplinks as trunks.

I have a number of n2048p and am having the same issue so it's clearly something I'm doing/not doing.

I have 2 laptop's connected to a switch and running constant pings between them. I create the vlan, give the vlan int an IP address and add the switch ports to the access vlan. I can now also ping the vlan interface from both laptops.

So far so good.

I now set the uplinks as trunk interfaces and everything stops working. The laptops can't ping each other or the vlan int.

Reset the uplinks back to access ports and it all works again.

Good moring,

we have couple of switches 1052P with some Polycom phones connected using the POE ports working fine, 2 days ago one of them lost the POE, all ports went to no POE without any warning, we have be checking settings and compare with others and no change were detected. Does any have the similar problem ?

we fix by rebooting, but this happen today again.

the power firmware version is 3.0.0.82

S4810T and iSCSI optimisation

Hello,

I have a S4820T and want to activate iSCSI optimisation. I enabled iSCSI, and a "sh iscsi" gives the following:

iSCSI is enabled
iSCSI session monitoring is disabled
iSCSI COS : dot1p is 4 no-remark
Session aging time: 10
Maximum number of connections is 256
------------------------------------------------
iSCSI Targets and TCP Ports:
------------------------------------------------
TCP Port    Target IP Address
3260
860

but if I try a "sh iscsi session" I get:

% Error: iSCSI session monitoring is not enabled

An looked for a while but cannot find how I enable the monitoring. Any hint is appreciated.Thx,

Willi

No PowerConnect 6248 Topology with SolarWinds

I'm using SolarWinds NPM to monitor my host of switches, including several PC 6248s.  I'm trying to get the topology working, but I'm not getting anything from most of these switches.  I have them all on 3.3.16.1, but SW support is saying they don't have the proper OIDs for topology.  How can I confirm/update the MIBs on the switches to get this working?

Is this an SNMP/LLDP issue?  I have other Dell switches (N2048) that popped up in the topology as soon as I installed them, with basically the same configuration.

%STKUNIT0-M:CP %iSCSI-5-ISCSI_OPT_NEW_TCP_CONNECTION: New iSCSI TCP Connection is discovered: source ip-address : xxxx  source port: 55717 destination ip-address: xxxxx destination port: 3260

Anyone seen this and what could be causing it?

I have MXL-10/40GbE on FTOS 9.11(0.0P9) and Dell PS6210. Thanks!
