Vlan set up on PowerConnect 7048

Hey,

This is my first Dell switch set up and it's not going so well :). I'm used to configure Cisco switches which shouldn't be a big difference as I think ?

Any way here is what I'm trying to do:

Our network is messed up and I'm trying to organize it. All the company is on Vlan 1 and I want to separate the network into multiple vlans.

I started to create a simple Vlan 10 with ip address 172.16.10.1 255.255.254.0 for the users and assigned  port 30 on the first switch (We have 3 stacked switches) and plugged in a laptop to see if I can get to ping the vlan 10 but no luck (of course I put a static ip with the same range of the vlan 10 network). When I put a static ip on the laptop with vlan 1 network, I can get access to the network. Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong ?

Here is the port configuration:

Access Mode VLAN: 10
General Mode PVID: 1 (default)
General Mode Ingress Filtering: Enabled
General Mode Acceptable Frame Type: Admit All
General Mode Dynamically Added VLANs:
General Mode Untagged VLANs: 1
General Mode Tagged VLANs:
General Mode Forbidden VLANs:
Trunking Mode Native VLAN: 1 (default)
Trunking Mode Native VLAN Tagging: Disabled
Trunking Mode VLANs Enabled: All
Private VLAN Host Association: none
Private VLAN Mapping:
Private VLAN Operational Bindings:
Default Priority: 0
Protected: Disabled
