Dell 6224 CX4 how to connect?

$

0

So I have the XFP module and the CX4 stacking module.  From what I understand I can use the CX4 stacking module (reconfigure it if needed) to connect to my other 10GB network devices.  I'm just not sure how to do it since my other devices are SFP+.  Would I need a CX4 to SFP+ cable/adapter?  So far I haven't really had luck.  Or just need the CX4 transceivers with LC connectors?  Sorry for the noob questions.

Hi there,

is there any possible way to remove the empty port-channel. IMHO it is a bit weird that the switch shows 128 PoCs that are empty and not used?

I.e. those show up via snmpwalk

Running the latest OMNM and have most things working. However when trying to upload new firmware images it fails with Exception thrown. I can't seem to find where logs are stored to look through logs and see what is going on. I'm am uploading the .stk file for N3000 switch via direct URL from a local server (browse file on computer doesn't open up dialog box or I would try that as well). Any help to point in a direction would be great. Thanks.

Hello, i have problem with routing from my vlan to internet.

ip routing is enabled
vlan110 192.168.110.1/24
vlan120 192.168.120.1/24
vlan130 192.168.130.1/24
vlan140 192.168.140.1/24

router (port3)
vlan110 192.168.110.2/24
vlan120 192.168.120.2/24
vlan130 192.168.130.2/24
vlan140 192.168.140.2/24

static route

0.0.0.0/0 192.168.130.2 vlan110
0.0.0.0/0 192.168.140.2 vlan110

1) Switch and UTM are connected via trunk port
2) I can't ping from switch and from device in vlan to router vlan ip (192.168.vlanid.2)
3) Inter-vlan working fine, i can ping and connect to any devices across any vlan.
4) I can't connect to Internet, when i use ping directly from switch (via console) to ip 8.8.8.8, host respond. When i try ping from device from vlan 140 (ip 192.168.140.50/24 gateway 192.168.140.1) remote host 8.8.8.8 does not respond.
5) I tryed setup a only one default ip route (ie. to ip 192.168.110.2) but i have same issue,
6) i don't setup default gateway ip address

PowerConnect 5524 lldp crash

$

I have two stacked 5524s running firmware 4.1.0.20.

The 5524 stack has no custom configuration other than completing the easy startup wizard.

Port gi1/0/13 on the 5524 stack is connected to port gi1/0/13 on a stand-alone 7024.  No other ports are connected.

I can consistently crash the 5524 stack by executing

show lldp neighbors gi1/0/13

Is this a known bug?  Am I doing something wrong here?  Details below:

This works:

console# show lldp neighbors

Port Device ID Port ID System Name Capabilities TTL
--------- ----------------- ------------- ----------------- ------------ -----
gi1/0/13  f8:b1:56:0b:4c:e7   Gi1/0/13                           O        106

This causes the switch to crash every time:

console# show lldp neighbors gi1/0/13

Port ID: Gi1/0/13
Capabilities: O

PowerConnect 2824 (2800 series) port authentication 802.1x with freeradius

$

We are using powerconnect 2824 for lan network. I need to run 802.1x authentication for one of its port. In my lan i have already freeradius version 3 server with configured users (for wifi). Switch and freeradius server are in the same /24 network.
I have configured powerconnect radius auth server and port security.
Computer with is connected to configured port is prompted for user and password (md5-auth), but is unable to successfully complyt authentication.

Additionally i have configured new freeradius v2 server, on my laptop and capture radius packets with wireshark, but there are no connection made from powerconnect switch to this service.

I have also checked different settings: single host, multi host, multi session, mac authorization, and there is no communication from powerconnect to freeradius server.

Is it possible that powerconnect 2824, does not support 802.1x ?

Hi,

I'm using Linux machine and serial/usb device doesn't show up (it was working before the upgrade process).

Boot version 1.0.0.25 ( date 05-Apr-2017 time 09:55:19 )
HW version 00.00.04

So, what should I do ?

Thanks,

Smart Switch 2724

I know that this is an older switch but it works (or did).

I had a switch take a dive yesterday. I hastily configured another one and this time I installed it with a public IP in the public network range so that I can shut a port down if I feel there is a server being attacked. It is working very slowly. The switch is also throwing HTML on my screen - I can see the code for the switch. Additionally all ports say that they are set for 1000Mbps. but I only set them for 100. The switch is now showing auto-negotiation sometimes disabled, sometimes not. I plugged into the Link port (port 1) and instantly had throughput that while at the data center was great. Very slow. 603377 collisions and climbing. Previously I had plugged into port 24 with no external access. It was still set to 192.168.2.1. I don't know why I would suddenly have colisions on a network that has been running for 10 years. But I'm not a hardware guy.

N4032 switches and UDLD

$

Hi,

We have a Core switch formed by two physical switches in the Stack form.

We have for each floor, fiber uplinks and so, I enabled UDLD last Friday, to avoid any potential Unidirectional Link.

Everything seemed ok, status shown as Bidirectional.

But on Sunday, ALL these links went down, as error-disabled because of a False Positive detection.

So I searched the net, and found something curious about service-acl(s).

I will show two samples (now working, under test)

hub-cf50-8166#show udld tengigabitethernet 1/0/1

Interface Admin Mode UDLD Mode UDLD Status

hub-cf50-8166#show running-config interface te2/0/1

Is possible that the DEFAULT acl blocked at some point UDLD??

Why is the DEFAULT value Enabled, so why is the default to block UDLD? (theorically, because seems to be working...by now)

Is this OK ? Documentation does not advice this...

BTW when this happened I was using v6.3.2.7.

Now I upgraded to v6.3.3.8 and the default behaviour of the ACL seems to remain intact.

unrecognized command

Hi,

Ive just received my first Dell x1000 series switch (x1026), and so far been happy about it.

Im fairly used to basic Cisco commands, so many of the commands seems the same.

When i received it i entered the management mode, to be able to access the Web-UI and console...

Afterwards i entered CLI by an SSH session, but cant seem to actually change anything... (and yes - im in config mode)

The switch output is unrecognized command, when trying to set switchport mode to trunk - the exact same commands, as the switch enters, when applying it through the Web-UI.

Example

interface gigabitethernet1/0/1
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport trunk native vlan 100
switchport trunk allowed vlan remove 2,6-4094
!
interface gigabitethernet1/0/2
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport trunk native vlan 100
switchport trunk allowed vlan remove 2,6-4094
!
interface gigabitethernet1/0/24
 switchport mode trunk
 switchport trunk native vlan 100
S2SW01(config)#int gi1/0/22
S2SW01(config-if)#switchport ?
% Unrecognized command
S2SW01(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
% Unrecognized command
S2SW01(config-if)#

Why is the switch not letting me enter commands, that it clearly understands?

Hello, wanted to buy 10GbE adaptor for my N3000 stack to connect them with another floor via Fibre Optics cable. On the Dell website I only found one module compatible with those switches 409-BBCZ. However part of the website with technical description has no technical details apart from stating that this is SFP+ type of module. Where I can get anymore details about type of cables that can be used to connect those modules and is it really the only type that can be used with those switches?

How to I check the temp on a powerconnect 5324 through the Open Manager Switch Administrator?

Thanks, Ramsey
