SNMP OID CPU, InBroadcastPacket for Powerconnect 5324, 6248

Hi everyone,

I have a problem to monitor my Powerconnect 5324 and 6248 via SNMP. I want to get informations about Broadcast Packet (per second or counter) and CPU ultilization, specially Trap Broadcast storm control on each interface. But I can't find any suitable OID (and log message) of these Switchs, can you help me to solve this?

Thank you very much.

Dell PowerConnect 5448 - Error traffic routing

Hello

Today i sniff the traffic on my computer, and receive many traffic (http, https) of other users in our Network. We have four switches, on every switch i receive wrong traffic. For testing i remove the uplink of one switch to the others and reconnect it. After the reconnect the traffic routing works correctly.

After a short time i have the same routing problem again.

Switch Versions (Software 2.0.0.35, Boot:2.0.0.0, Hardware: 00.00.02)

Is this a known bug?

buffer-profile command on S4810P switch

Hi,

I have a Dell Force10 Switch (S4810P) whose version is

Recently, I need to modify buffer settings on this switch for experiment, I tried 'buffer-profile' command. However, dislike the reference manual, I got invalid input error.

Force10(conf)#buffer-profile csf csf_profile
                                                   ^

===============================================

One thing I can command with buffer-profile command is the one with 'global'

=========================================================

Force10(conf)#buffer-profile global 4Q
% Info: For the global pre-defined buffer profile to take effect, please save the config and reload the system.
% Info: For Configured WRED profiles thresholds will be differ based on global buffer profile change, For Better results please configure apprioate Threshold Values.

===========================================================

Even, 'show buffer-profile detail interface Tengigabitethernet 0/0' doesn't give invalid input error.

==========================================================

Force10#show buffer-profile detail interface Tengigabitethernet 0/0

% Error: Invalid input at "^" marker.

Anybody can help me to create buffer-profile and modify my buffer settings in the switch?

Thanks.

Storsimple dell n3024

Hello im trying to connect a storsimple 8100 to a dell n3024 via the 10GB interface, but im getting no link on both the storsimple and on the dell

On the storsimple side we are using a SFP-10G-SR transreciver, and a SFP-H10GB-CU1M cisco cable

On the dell side we are using a dell 462-7667 sfp+ transreciver.

What would be the configuration necessary to connect both system?

DHCP over VLANs

I've been trying to implement some VLAN segmentation and network access control on our network.  Our entire network currently runs on VLAN 1.  We're starting with the NAC project which has a DHCP server just for controlling rogue devices, but I haven't been able to pull a device.

My current configuration is as follows

SW1 (PC 3448) port 48 (this is the uplink port) mode general allow/add VLAN 16 (NAC Network) & 15 tagged

SW1 port 14 mode access PVID 16

SW2 (PC 3548) port 41 (uplink to SW1 port 48) mode general allow/add VLAN 16, 15 tagged

SW2 port 44 (uplink to firewall) mode general allow/add VLAN 16,15 tagged

So when the host PC is connected to a VLAN 1 port it can get DHCP from the VLAN 1 server (the firewall in this case), but when connected to the 16 VLAN it's not able to grab an address.  I've mirrored port 48 SW1 and ran a wire shark on this port.  When the host is on VLAN 1 I can see the return DHCP ACKs and so on.  When the host is on VLAN 16 I can see the initial broadcast, but there are no other DHCP messages.  I don't think the requests are passing this first switch to the rest of the network.

I've tried trunking the ports, trunk --> general, general --> trunk, trunk-->trunk, and even played around with using access mode.  With nothing to show for it.

Any help would be great.

N3048p - Can you stack 2 N3048p switches using the sfp+ ports on front of switch

I have 2 N3048p's. We had to add a a second closet because of distance and we have LC to LC fiber between the closets.  Can I stack the 2 switches using the sfp+ fiber ports?

If so, how do i go about this?  Also when I look at the optical status on the gui admin...on one of the transceivers it says  soething to the effect of NON Dell - ...

thanks

Stacking PowerConnect Switches

I have one standalone PowerConnect 3548 fully loaded and in production. I am needing more ports to accommodate additional users on the VLAN 1 configured on this switch.

I have with me a PowerConnect 3524. How can I stack it with the existing PowerConnect 3548 without disturbing operations.

Powerconnect 3548 PXE Boot

I cannot seem to get my machines to pxe boot using an ufei bios.  It will work traditionally, albeit slow but once the workstations are converted it won't pxe boot any more

m6348 lost oob connectivity

I have a m6348 two member stack in a M1000e fabric B. Has been working fine for years. Today I can no longer ping or telnet to the master. The switches are still forwarding traffic. When I look at them via the CMC they all have green check marks. However B2 is listed as the master when it used to be B1. This would indicate that a failover event occurred but there is nothing in the logs to indicate this. And I can't ping B1, B2. I can get to the switches via ssh through the cmc and everything looks fine.

I also have a two member stack in fabric A, no issues there, can access the master via telnet etc.

Anybody seen this. Dell support says to reboot the switches.

Force 10 (S4810) Class Map and Policy Map Configuration

Dear All,

I am putting together a traffic policy on my Force10 switch. I want to use 3 independant class maps. The first two will match two DSCP values and place them into a specific service queue. The third class map will reference an ACL for a QoS policy that will set a DSCP value. Then I will use a policy map to link it all together.

Please could you kindly look at the following configuration to verify that it should work. Unfortuantely, I don't have a test environment, so I will be applying this to production and want to ensure I get it right first time. Most appreciated.

Access List to match source/desintation subnet

ip access-list extended ACL1

permit ip x.x.x.x/24 x.x.x.x/24

QoS policy to set IP DSCP

qos-policy-input QP_SETDSCP10

set ip-dscp 10

3 independant class maps

class-map match-any DSCP24

macth ip dscp 24

class-map match-any DSCP24

macth ip dscp 46

class-map match-any SETDSCP10

match access-group ACL1

Single Policy that links it all together

policy-map-input Policy_DSCP

service-queue 2 class-map DSCP46

service-queue 1 class-map DSCP24

service-queue 1 class-map SETDSCP10 qos-policy QP_SETDSCP10

Service Policy to apply to Interface

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Overlapped VLANs

Hi everyone,

I'm completely new here and I'm happy to be with all of you.

So I have a pc6248 and I want to make use of it. Here are what I did on the switch:

Created 3 vlans: 10, 20, 30.

vlan 10,20,30

Set vlans interface IP addreses:

ip address 192.168.10.1 /24 [for vlan 10]
ip address 192.168.20.1 /24 [for vlan 20]
ip address 192.168.30.1 /24 [for vlan 30]

Added ports to the vlans:

interface range ethernet 1/g1-1/g3
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 10

interface range ethernet 1/g4-1/g6
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 20

interface range ethernet 1/g7-1/g9
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 30

PC1 connected to vlan 10: 192.168.10.11 /24
PC2 connected to vlan 10: 192.168.10.22 /24
PC3 connected to vlan 10: 192.168.10.33 /24

PC4 connected to vlan 20: 192.168.20.44 /24
PC5 connected to vlan 20: 192.168.20.55 /24
PC6 connected to vlan 20: 192.168.20.66 /24

PC7 connected to vlan 30: 192.168.30.77 /24
PC8 connected to vlan 30: 192.168.30.88 /24
PC9 connected to vlan 30: 192.168.30.99 /24

So far so good. A PC can ping other PCs in the same vlan but not other PCs in other vlans.

But I need more than that, such as, PC1 (vlan 10) and PC4 (vlan 20) and PC7 (vlan 30) can ping each other.

I heard of routing but I don't know how to do it.

Thanks for any help.

m6220/m1000E: How to create sub-net for each blade?

We have been assigned a class C IPv4 block. The gateway is 10.10.10.1 (example). We would like to create a /29 sub-net for each port so that the blade will have its own 5 usable IP address.

How can this be accomplished using the m6220? Does this require vlan and in that case would each blade be in its own vlan? How will all of the traffic eventually get routed out through 10.10.10.1?

Advice on how to Create Redundant Switch Configuration

Hello,
My goal is to have redundant switches for our ESXi Servers as well as redundant links from these switches back to our main Network Stack (HP).  My two server switches are Dell 4032F switches.

Currently each host server have a single connection into Dell Switch B and that is connected back to the Main HP Stack.

I want to add a second connection from each Server into the second Dell Switch. This switch is connected back to the main HP Stack already.

Currently I have a SAN attached to the Dell Switches using separate and unique VLANs and IP Subnets.  This is fully redundant and is working fine.

Below is a diagram of what we have.  All Links are 10gig.

Some Questions...

Do I need to stack the Dell Switches (hoping no)?

Do I need to set the VMWare Links to Trunks/Load-balancing?

Do I need to trunk the connections from the Dell and HP Switches?  If so I suspect I need to Stack the Dell Switches.

I am open to anything suggestions to get me to a redundant configuration where I can power down either Dell Switch A or Switch B and everything continues to run fine.

PowerConnect 6224 increased latency and dropping packets since IP assigned

Hi all,

I have a 6224 which until recently was running quite nicely without an IP, or http access, but I don't know what configurations may have been made via console since it came out of the box.

I assigned it an available IP last week, and enabled http access, and since then it's been throwing users out of their RDS sessions (eg on PC103 and PC106). The 6224 is connected via a fibre link using a StarTech Mini-GBIC SPF Transceiver into port g24, the other end of which is the same transceiver into port g48 of Switch 4 in a stack of 4x 6248s in my office. (I ruled out the connection being an issue since it was working fine before I assigned the IP etc).

I can ping -t PC103, or PC106 and see the replies are <1ms with occasional increases in latency of up to 1000ms, and packet losses of 0% when there's minimal traffic, and up to 14% when they're using RDS over the connection.

Since the problems started I noticed that the 6224 was running firmware v2.2.0.3 and the stack of 4x 6248 were on v3.3.3.3, so I upgraded the 6224 to v3.3.3.3 following Dell's PC6200UpgradeSoftwareFromVersion2.xProcedure.pdf which came with the firmware. The problem still exists.

Any help with troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated!

Dell 4064F and Copper SFP (100BASE-T) - Link Status no detected

Hi,

Below are all the technical details regarding the SFP in question.

System Model: N4064F
Firmware: 6.3.0.16

Type.............................. SFP
Media............................. 1000BASE-T
Serial Number..................... MTCGETC024483
Dell Qualified.................... Yes
Data Rate......................... UNKNOWN
Wavelength........................ N/A
Receive Power..................... N/A

Type.............................. SFP
Media............................. 1000BASE-T
Serial Number..................... MTCGETC024483
Dell Qualified.................... Yes

Port Description Duplex Speed Neg Link Flow M VLAN
State Ctrl
--------- --------------- ------ ------- ---- ------ ----- -- -------------------
Te1/0/17 Spare_Copper Full 1000 Auto Up Off A 1

Interface Name................................. Te1/0/17
SOC Hardware Info.............................. BCM56846_A1
Link Status.................................... Up

As you'll see, the Link Status is Up - But there is no cable in the SFP.

Why can't the switch detect if there's a cable plugged in or not ?

Kind regards,
    Ryan
